what is the goal or attribute to gain from handstand work? seeing lots of folks do these...i can feel tons of core tension when i attempt this move, but that's me--wondered if it was a advanced corrective strategy...later

I think you're on it with the core. It makes me feel zipped up with tension. I like the shoulder stability required as well. Kinda going from a naked warrior theme, I want to be able to press my body before I get back into pressing weight and this is the start. If I can turn it into a handstand push up I'd say my shoulder should be ready for some heavy pressing from a stability and strength standpoint. Not really a corrective strategy we went over but could be a higher level one.
